About the Course

Yorke Institute’s Program in CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support  is designed for those with a burning passion to provide personal, physical and emotional support to people whose capacity for independent living is at risk. In particular the aged and those with disabilities.

By undertaking this nationally recognised qualification, you will be provided with the knowledge and confidence required to care for members of the community including:

  • Supporting overall individual health and well-being
  • Providing personal care, support and encouragement for participating in activities
  • Assisting with daily living activities
  • Creating, implementing and monitoring individualised care plans
  • Supporting the elderly or disabled in their homes or in a community setting

On completion of this qualification, you will have a variety of employment opportunities, in particular working within the health and community industry at hospitals, nursing homes, aged care facilities and community centres. 

Theory training is delivered at our Melbourne Campus for 2-3 days a week.

Yorke Institute has partnered with a leading Aged Care Facility to deliver the practical component of this healthcare course. The partnership will enable our students to be trained in an operating aged care facility, interact with clients and qualified staff. This Aged Care facility is located in Rosanna.  

Work Placement

Yorke Institute students will be provided with work placements at Viewbank House, BaptCare and Regis Shenley.

 

Practical Training

The practical training will be conducted in an operating Aged Care facility where students can interact with a variety of clients and qualified carers.

Entry Requirement CRICOS

  • 18 years old and above
  • IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL 550 or Proficiency level of Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) which is assessed by Yorke Institute.

There are no prerequisite requirements for individual units of competency.

Pathways from the qualification

After achieving the CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support, you may undertake the CHC43415 Certificate IV in Leisure and Health, CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support or CHC53415 Diploma of Leisure and Health 

Exit Points

  • At any point prior to the completion of the qualification, you may request a Statement of Attainment for an individual unit or units where competence has been assessed.
  • At the successful completion of the qualification CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support qualification will be issued.

Mode of Delivery CRICOS

Delivery for this qualification is face to face, classroom based. Practical components of Units are simulated in classroom practiced in Industry workplaces and assessed during work placement.

Mode of Delivery Domestic and Online

Delivery for this qualification is online distance based. Practical components of Units are practiced in Industry workplaces and assessed during 120 hours of work placement. Work placement is delivered in tandem with the theory unit’s delivery.

 Assessment Methods

Assessments will be conducted as part of the qualification, by a qualified assessor who will ensure assessments are valid, reliable, fair and flexible. Evidence collected will comply with the rules of evidence. Where possible, assessment activities will be integrated to reflect industry application and knowledge in the workplace.
